Today, I am happy to introduce our latest class of Forbes CIO Innovation Award winners. They will each join me on stage today at the at our Forbes CIO Summit in Half Moon Bay, California. These CIOs are pushing the boundaries of their role and are harnessing innovation to drive significant revenue growth at their organizations. Since its commencement, this award has focused on CIO-led, revenue augmenting innovation, which I believe to be one of the biggest differentiators between the best CIOs and others. The 2018 Half Moon Bay Summit winners are:
- Ted Colbert III, Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Information Technology and Data Analytics of The Boeing Company, who spearheaded the creation of Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ (BCA) Digital Flight Deck, a cluster of real-time digital models that support BCA leadership’s decision making. The Digital Flight Deck eliminates approximately 100 person months’ worth of manual data collection and chart creation each month and has the potential to generate billions of dollars in revenue from increased aircraft production rates.
- Melanie Kalmar, Corporate VP, Chief Information Officer and Chief Digital Officer of The Dow Chemical Company, who led the development of a unique “tenant” platform that supports Dow’s acquisition and divestiture activities by providing varied business services and enabling technologies to joint ventures, divested entities, and affiliates (tenants) while leveraging core capabilities. This architecture has allowed Dow to reduce the cost of separation activities by multi-millions of dollars and shorten the duration of the transaction by several months.
