Dee Waddell’s Biography

Dee is the Acting Chief Information Officer of Amtrak, a government-owned railroad corporation.  He reports to the CEO and provides business leadership as an executive committee member and is responsible for all aspects of IT with an overall budget of over $270 million in FY 2012.

Previous to this appointment, Dee served as Group Chief Information Officer, supporting the marketing and customer initiatives of the company. Prior to Amtrak, Dee was with United Airlines leading united.com and was responsible for e-commerce revenue of nearly $3 billion.  Dee has led large initiatives in both business and technology roles at a number of major organizations including Motorola, Accenture and the Department of Defense. Dee was recognized in 2009 by CIO Magazine as a “rising star in IT”, with special distinction as a stand-out winner in team-building.

Dee has a BA in Information Systems from the University of Maryland, an MBA in Strategic Management from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and is currently working towards his Doctorate in Management from the University of Maryland.

Jo-ann Olsovsky’s Biography

Jo-ann is the vice president and chief information officer at BNSF Railways, a class-one railroad that is part Berkshire Hathaway.  In her role, she is responsible for delivery of BNSF’s telecommunications services, data center infrastructure, application development, Web presence and all other information technology services.

Prior to joining BNSF Railway in 2006, Jo-ann was director, enterprise network services and technology support services, at Verizon Communications and pre-merger at GTE. In these positions she was responsible for planning, engineering, security and support of their extensive LAN/WAN environment with more than 50,000 infrastructure devices and 200,000 customers at more than 2,000 locations, including both internal and commercial contract customers.

Prior to her time at GTE, Jo-ann spent 13 years at AT&T where she led technology planning, engineering and operations teams.

Jo-ann serves several organizations and chairs various committees, including Railinc Board of Directors, AT&T and IBM’s Customer Advisory Councils, Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber Board of Directors, and TCU’s Neeley School of Business Advisory Council.

Jo-ann has a BA in Business Management and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University, and an MA in Project Management from George Washington University.

Bruce Parker’s Biography

Bruce Parker is Managing Director of IT Management Group, an IT consultancy.

Until late August, 2008, Bruce Parker was Chairman & CEO of AirNet Systems, Inc. a specialized express cargo airline. He remains on the board of that company.

From December 1999 until his retirement in July 2002, Parker was an Executive Vice President at Sapient, responsible for corporate development, international growth, subsidiaries and relationships with multiple large clients. He has been a board member of that company since 1995, and continues to serve on the board today.

From 1997 until 1999, Bruce served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at United Airlines. Under his direction, the company introduced United.com. During his tenure, he also created and organized several joint ventures in distribution, including Orbitz, and participated in forming the Star Alliance technology organization.

From 1994 to 1997, Bruce was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Ryder System Inc. and, previously, was a Vice President of American Airlines and Sabre Computer Services.

Bruce holds an MBA from the University of Kansas.
